A landmark visit from Japan deepens one of the marine electronics industry's longest-standing relationships.
Electronic Navigation Ltd (ENL) was recently honoured to welcome two senior representatives from Furuno Japan to New Zealand for a week-long visit that underscored the strength of a partnership stretching back to 1960.
Mr. Gen Tomoshige, Managing Director of Furuno IMD, and Mr. Tetsunosuke Ueda, Furuno IMD Section 2 Sales, made the journey from Japan to gain first-hand insight into the New Zealand market and the people who represent the Furuno brand at the frontline.
A Week on the Water and on the Ground
The visit packed a remarkable amount into seven days. The guests were welcomed to ENL's headquarters, where they were able to meet the team, see operations first-hand, and get under the hood of what makes ENL tick as a business.

A highlight of the trip was a tour of the WASSP manufacturing facility - giving the Furuno leadership a close look at the world-class multibeam sonar technology being built right here in New Zealand, and the innovation driving the marine electronics industry forward from the highly experience New Zealand team.

The delegation also had the opportunity to get out on the water to experience the WASSP product testing vessel and meet some of ENL's key customers, an important part of any visit, and one that gave Mr. Tomoshige and Mr. Ueda genuine insight into how Furuno products perform in New Zealand conditions and the unique demands of the local marine environment.

An America's Cup Moment
No visit to Auckland would be complete without taking in the spectacle of the America's Cup, and Mr Tomoshige and Mr Ueda were fortunate to experience it first-hand, including a visit to the iconic Oram's Marine, one of Auckland's most respected boatyards and a hub of Marine activity in the Auckland region. It was a fitting backdrop for a visit centred on maritime excellence.

65 Years and Going Strong
The relationship between ENL and Furuno is one of the longest-standing in the marine electronics industry. Since 1960, ENL has been the trusted face of the Furuno brand in New Zealand, built on shared values of reliability, precision, and genuine commitment to the people who work and navigate on the water.

This visit was a powerful reminder of what makes that partnership endure. Putting faces to names, walking the same ground, and understanding the market together - that's how relationships built over decades stay strong for decades more.
We look forward to continuing to grow our work with Furuno and to delivering the world's finest marine electronics to New Zealand customers for many years to come.
